Adele Notches Best Sales Year Since Usher's Confessions
In 2011, 21 moved more than 5.6 million copies in the U.S.

<P>The music industry has been stuck in a rut for nearly a decade. But every once in a while, it still manages to produce one of those unstoppable hit albums that give everyone that good old feeling. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:604336" width="240" height="211"></div><p> This year's model is <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>'s <I>21</I>, which not only sold more copies than any other album in the U.S. in 2011 (more than 5.6 million to date), but which has also moved the most units of any artist since 2004. According to a <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/27/us-adele-idUSTRE7BQ10V20111227" target="_blank"><I>Reuters</I> report</a>, those gaudy figures (which top 15 million worldwide) make the British songbird the first artist to cross the 5 million mark in one year since Usher did it with his fourth studio album, <I>Confessions</I>, which sold 7.9 million units more than seven years ago. And to think she did it by releasing just two mega singles, <a href="/news/articles/1675976/adele-rolling-in-the-deep-best-song-2011.jhtml">"Rolling in the Deep"</a> and "Someone Like You," and barely touring North America due to <a href="/news/articles/1674453/adele-throat-surgery-recovery.jhtml">recurring vocal issues.</a>
 There have been other big hits along the way to Adele's mark, including Eminem selling more than 3.4 million copies of his comeback <I>Recovery</I> album last year and Taylor Swift taking the honors in 2009 with <I>Fearless</I>, which sold 3.2 million copies. But none have come as close to Usher's mark in the interim. There doesn't seem to be any chance Adele will be surpassed by the end of the year: The closest contenders are Lady Gaga's <I>Born This Way</I> (2.08 million) and Michael Bublé's <I>Christmas</I> (2.4 million). The other good news is that overall music sales are expected to be up slightly (3 percent) by the end of this year, marking the first time that's happened since 2004.</p>

WATCH: Is This Britney Spears Look-Alike the Next 'Idol'?
American Idol traveled to Oregon (Portland, to be exact) for the first time ever for Wednesday night's audtions episode, and the show might have found its season 11 winner there. Britney Spears look-alike Britnee Kellogg wowed the judges with her performance of "You're No Good" and, as an added bonus, moved them with her story. Watch the video below!

Julianne Moore Takes On Sarah Palin in 'Game Change'
It takes a lot of courage for an actor to accept the tough task of portraying a living person. Even gutsier was Julianne Moore's decision to take on the role of Sarah Palin in the upcoming HBO film, Game Change (premieres Saturday, March 10, at 9 p.m. ET). Why? Because Palin remains a highly prominent presence in American politics. After the credits roll, HBO viewers could very easily switch over to their network news and catch the real Sarah weighing in on various issues of the day. Taylor Swift Out Of 'Les Miserables'
U.K. stage actress Samantha Barks will play Eponine, alongside Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, in Tom Hooper's big-screen adaptation.

Taylor Swift won't be getting her "Les Misérables" on. After Swift was offered the role of Eponine in January, the part has now gone to Samantha Barks.
Barks' name might not be as recognizable as Swift's, but she is no stranger to the part. The 21-year-old U.K. native and stage actress played it twice before: Once during the 2010 London production of the musical, and again during the 2011 25th Anniversary Concert at the 02 Arena, which co-starred Nick Jonas, to whom she was romantically linked at the time.
Barks not only beat out the likes of Swift, but also several high-profile Hollywood starlets including Evan Rachel Wood, Scarlett Johansson and Lea Michele, who were all vying for a part in the Tom Hooper-directed big-screen adaptation of the stage show. Barks joins Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne and Anne Hathaway, among other Tinseltown A-listers, in the flick.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barks learned of the good news from theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh, who made the surprise announcement onstage during a curtain call after her performance in "Oliver!" at England's Manchester Palace.
In an interview with the BBC shortly after the news was announced, Barks said, "To have that news, it still surprised me now. I'm really shocked. It's an incredible cast. ... I'm very excited to meet them and to work with them all.
"I've had such an amazing journey with the character. I feel so excited to get to explore another side of her. ... Now it's the film, so it's a big, old journey. ... To get to do the film is absolutely amazing."
She also took to Twitter to express her joy over the chance to star in the film: "Words cannot express how much I appreciate all the amazing support I have received from everyone! I haven't stopped smiling!"

I'm getting ready to go to the gym (again, like a total Angeleno!) so I will update later about my run-ins with Alexander Skarsgard, Pauly Shore, and Jeremy or Jason London (I'm not sure which one it was and seeing if I could force him to do drugs to find out seemed unfair. Besides, as it turned out, he was telling the truth?)
Anyhoo, I've got a lot to tell you about gardening! (Did you know if you get dirt wet it turns into mud? Yuck.)
