Kristen Stewart Says 'Snow White' Is 'Everything I Wanted'

Those familiar with the Hollywood moviemaking process likely know that what is first scripted on the page, and then performed by the actors, and then released unto the masses doesn't always turn out to be an accurate representation of what was initially written. Scripts change, performances alter. In short, after an actor wraps their work on any particular production, they can't be totally sure about what will end up on screen until they see a finished cut of the film.
That does not seem to be the case with the highly anticipated "Snow White and the Huntsman", in that star Kristen Stewart recently revealed that director Rupert Sanders' brilliant plans became a brilliant film.
"I was so excited," Stewart said of her reaction upon seeing the finished product. What's unique, she said, is that the movie is just as "cool" as its concept art — the sketches, storyboards or short videos that directors and producers often assemble in order to sell studios and actors on the concept behind a movie.
"That's the way Rupert Sanders got the job as director of this movie, by putting together a five-minute version of the movie and presenting the darkness and lightness of the world. I thought that it was insane because it felt like two different people did it, it was so, so beautiful when it was light and so exuberantly happy, and then when it was dark it was wretched and disgusting. I think when I first saw the movie I saw that. It was like, 'Wow.' Everything I wanted it to feel like, everything I wanted to say, it's there."

Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, John Paul Jones Unveil Supergroup
Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.

<P>Officially, <a href="/news/articles/1617945/janes-addiction-killers-turn-up-heat-on-lollapaloozas-last-day.jhtml">Lollapalooza ended Sunday night</a> in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from <a href="/music/artist/killers_the/artist.jhtml">the Killers</a> and <a href="/music/artist/janes_addiction/artist.jhtml">Jane's Addiction</a>. Unofficially, it ended <i>very</i> early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.</P><P>To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of <a href="/music/artist/foo_fighters/artist.jhtml">Foo Fighters</a> frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, <a href="/music/artist/queens_stone_age/artist.jhtml">Queens of the Stone Age</a> mastermind Josh Homme and <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a> legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.</P><P>According to <a href="http://blogs.suntimes.com/derogatis/2009/08/them_crooked_vultures_at_metro.html" target="_blank">some reports</a>, the Vultures actually turned <i>down</i> Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.</P><P>Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called <i>Never Deserved the Future,</i> and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).</P><P>The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — <a href="http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2009/08/concert-review-them-crooked-vultures-at-metro.html" target="_blank"><i>Chicago Tribune</i></a> critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the <i>Chicago Sun-Times'</i> Jim DeRogatis.</P><P>It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.</P><P>Early Monday, a <a href="http://twitter.com/crookedvultures" target="_blank">Crooked Vultures Twitter account</a>, which had previously posted links to the band's <a href="http://www.themcrookedvultures.com/" target="_blank">official-looking Web site</a> and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a <i>Deserve the Future</i> T-shirt. Lady Gaga Cancels Show In Indonesia After Protests
Islamic hard-liners worry that sexy clothes and dancing will corrupt youth.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> lives to provoke and push the envelope. But not everyone is up for her antics. The "Americano" singer has been forced to cancel her sold-out June 3 "Born This Way Ball" show at the 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia after Islamic hard-liners and conservative lawmakers said her sexy costumes, suggestive dance moves and "vulgar" style could corrupt the nation's youth.</P><P>According to the <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/lady-gaga-cancel-indonesia-concert-093021436.html" target="_blank"><I>Associated Press</I></a>, a spokesperson for the national police said on Tuesday (May 15) that the permit for the show has been denied after religious conservatives worried that the concert could undermine the nation's moral fiber. Some of the critics actually threatened to use physical force to prevent Gaga from getting off her plane. Though Indonesia is a secular state, it has the world's largest population of Muslims and a small extremist fringe of religious leaders has been more vocal in recent years.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Will Bring a 'Personal' Touch To 'Born This Way' Tour" id="vid:717952" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"She's a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil's child and that she will spread satanic teaching," said Salim Alatas, the Jakarta head of hardline Islamic Defender Front (FPI), according to <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/15/entertainment-us-indonesia-gaga-idUSBRE84E0HQ20120515" target="_blank"><I>Reuters</I></a>. "This is dangerous."</P><P>Local police worried that they might not be able to guarantee security at the show and suggested to national police that the permit for what was to be Gaga's biggest gig on her current Asian tour be pulled. Every seat at the Karno stadium had been sold, with half of them going in the first two hours.</P><P>The <I>AP</I> reported that permits for shows are typically issued three weeks before concerts in Jakarta, so it is not uncommon for tickets to be sold well ahead of receiving a final permit. Gaga's Asian tour started last month and the Indonesian flap is not the first bump she's faced along the road. Gigs in <a href="/news/articles/1684062/lady-gaga-born-this-way-ball-seoul.jhtml">South Korea</a>

'Battleship' Mystery: Who Says 'You Sunk My Battleship'?
It's a trick question! 'I had this idea that we should come up with a different way of respecting the line,' director Peter Berg tells MTV News.

From the moment Universal announced plans to transform Hasbro's classic board game Battleship into a full-length feature film, the question weighing on fans' minds was not necessarily "How will they make that into a movie?" but rather "How will they work in the 'You sunk my Battleship!' line?"
For those who didn't grow up playing the game, we're talking about the classic tagline from Hasbro's old-school commercials that featured two players calling out targets until one proved victorious with a direct hit on their opponent's big boat, resulting in one of the most memorable and quotable board-game taglines ever: "You sunk my Battleship!"
We've made attempts to get various castmembers to spill the beans about the line, but it wasn't until MTV News caught up with director Peter Berg that we were able to get a definitive answer on the subject — which, in a nutshell, is no, the direct quote is not in the finished film.
"We have a version of it, though," Berg said. "There was a reference to the line: 'Ain't gonna sink this Battleship, no way,' " he quoted. "We say, 'No, we ain't sinking this battleship. ' They don't sink our Battleship. Sorry.
Berg said they put a lot of thought into how they could pay homage to the line but ultimately decided it would be best to provide their own spin on it.
"We played around. We said the line, we didn't say the line, and then I had this idea that maybe we should come up with a different way of respecting the line. But you know what? They didn't sink the Battleship," he reiterated, adding a "Raging Bull" reference in the process. "It's like Jake Lomatta said: 'You [didn't] get me down, Ray.' There a lot of ways you could've done it; we chose our way."

After kicking off her career by posing nude for Playboy nearly 20 years ago, Jenny McCarthy is stripping down for the cover, once more.
The 39-year-old actress will show off her goods in the July/August issue of the magazine and, according to E! News, a nude pictorial of the blonde bombshell can be expected within the pages of the men's mag.
McCarthy doesn't seem one bit shy about the upcoming project telling E! News during the NBC upfronts on Monday, "All I wanted to do [when she began in the industry] was work with my clothes on, and now I just hope to get them off!"
Something tells us she'll be handed a lot more money for the pictures than she was back in 1993 when she first posed for Playboy for $20,000 before earning Playmate of the Month and later, Playmate of the Year.

<P>It's not often that fans get to hit the club to party <i>with</i> the artist behind the latest dance hit, but that's exactly what happened for the audience at the interactive <a href="/news/articles/1685172/usher-fuerza-bruta-rehearsal.jhtml">off-Broadway show "Fuerza Bruta"</a> when <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> arrived for a unique first-listen experience for his new album, <i>Looking 4 Myself</i>.</P><P>As the R&B megastar's latest hit, the beat-driven Max Martin-produced <a href="/news/articles/1684071/usher-next-single-scream.jhtml">"Scream,"</a> pounded through the theater, Usher flew into the audience for a rave-like dance party that had everyone in the place moving.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Usher Previews A Clip Of His 'Scream' Performance Video" id="vid:767987.id:1685137" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>He's used to that sort of reaction by now, having released some of the biggest club hits of the past 15 years, including "OMG," "Yeah," "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and "My Way." Usher consistently makes dance records that define a night, and it's important to the singer that his upbeat songs reach people on as deep a level as his more personal ballads.</P><P>"If I'm gonna move you, I want to move you. I hope that it could be something that could be life changing," the soulful signer said during <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/news/767984/usher-takes-over-fuerza-bruta.jhtml#id=1685137">"MTV First: Usher."</a> "You may be going through something real crazy, who knows, and just need to get out and just enjoy yourself. 'Anchorman' Legend Lives On With New Poster

The road to the highly anticipated "Anchorman 2" has been a long one. Since "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" arrived in 2004, there were reports from cast and crew confirming a sequel and announcing a script was in the process of being written.
But the words were then taken back, leaving fans dizzy and disappointed believing they wouldn't see the anchormen reunite. Finally, when all hope was lost, Ferrell made a surprise appearance on "Conan" as the legendary Ron Burgundy to announce that the sequel was greenlit.
With the "Anchorman 2" teaser trailer playing before Sacha Baron Cohen's "Dictator," the Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide released the first official poster. It shows the Channel 4 news team's feet standing on set in the studio, the bottom of their suits — including Ron's signature burgundy number, presumably not bought at the toilet store — keeping it classy as always. The official title of the film appears at the bottom in big, bold print ("Anchorman: The Legend Continues") with a release date of 2013.
While the film is still in the very early stages of development, the first movie's director and co-writer Adam McKay will reunite with Ferrell to pen the script and the principal cast is set to return, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. When MTV News spoke with McKay back in 2010, he told us he expected much of the cast to come along for the sequel.
"We had an idea, and we contacted Steve and Paul and [David] Koechner and Christina [Applegate] and checked in with everyone, and they were all game for it," McKay said. "It's a tricky movie, because everyone went and did really well after it, so everyone's prices went up and everyone's time got a little more valuable. But at the same time, graciously, Steve and Paul and everyone agreed to cut their price to come and do it, which you don't see very often in Hollywood — and cut their price substantially."
Thanks to the cast's commitment, Ron and the rest of the anchormen are set to hit theaters in 2013. Until then, stay classy, moviegoers.

<P>What was clearly intended as a jokey tweet lamenting the rigorous diet and exercise routine she is currently undertaking to prepare for her 110-date Born This Way Ball has put <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml "> Lady Gaga</a> in the crosshairs of some angry fans and eating-disorder organizations. On Tuesday, the pop star <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/189809689570189313" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay." <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/11/popstarsdonteat-lady-gaga_n_1418722.html" target="_blank">Some fans </a> thought the tweet wasn't exactly keeping with the pop star's "You're perfect the way you are" message and that her choice of the "#PopStarsDontEat" hashtag could be misinterpreted as encouraging eating disorders because she posits herself as a role model to her fans.</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:717952/cp~vid%3D717952%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A717952" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> The National Eating Disorder Association even weighed in, hitting its own <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/NEDAstaff/status/190133464509591552" target="_blank">Twitter account</a> to write, "Huh? This is the same person who recently implored girls to stop dieting?"</P><P><b><i><a href="http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/2012/04/11/lady-gaga-pop-stars-dont-eat-tweet/">MTV Buzzworthy has an Open Letter To Lady Gaga</a></b></i> While it seems clear that Gaga was joking — who hasn't dove into a salad wishing it was something else? — the comment does appear out of character for the star, who has spoken publicly about her own struggles with an eating disorder as a teen. Using that particular hashtag might have been a poor choice, but it's safe to say Lady Gaga wasn't knowingly making light of eating disorders — and, otherwise, wasn't she mostly just encouraging exercise and healthy eating? Gaga tweets often about all sort of less-than-healthful habits, from <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/185590893238165506" target="_blank">drinking </a> ("after 12 margaritas my phone was confiscated") to, well, <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/189573069856194560" target="_blank">other things </a> ("princess xena of xanaxland has lil secrets in her inbox"). Why she is being scrutinized for making an observation about something we already know — that celebrities engage in intense fitness regimens to meet the unrealistic expectations placed on their appearance — is kind of a mystery. 'Anchorman' Legend Lives On With New Poster

The road to the highly anticipated "Anchorman 2" has been a long one. Since "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" arrived in 2004, there were reports from cast and crew confirming a sequel and announcing a script was in the process of being written.
But the words were then taken back, leaving fans dizzy and disappointed believing they wouldn't see the anchormen reunite. Finally, when all hope was lost, Ferrell made a surprise appearance on "Conan" as the legendary Ron Burgundy to announce that the sequel was greenlit.
With the "Anchorman 2" teaser trailer playing before Sacha Baron Cohen's "Dictator," the Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide released the first official poster. It shows the Channel 4 news team's feet standing on set in the studio, the bottom of their suits — including Ron's signature burgundy number, presumably not bought at the toilet store — keeping it classy as always. The official title of the film appears at the bottom in big, bold print ("Anchorman: The Legend Continues") with a release date of 2013.
While the film is still in the very early stages of development, the first movie's director and co-writer Adam McKay will reunite with Ferrell to pen the script and the principal cast is set to return, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. When MTV News spoke with McKay back in 2010, he told us he expected much of the cast to come along for the sequel.
"We had an idea, and we contacted Steve and Paul and [David] Koechner and Christina [Applegate] and checked in with everyone, and they were all game for it," McKay said. "It's a tricky movie, because everyone went and did really well after it, so everyone's prices went up and everyone's time got a little more valuable. But at the same time, graciously, Steve and Paul and everyone agreed to cut their price to come and do it, which you don't see very often in Hollywood — and cut their price substantially."
Thanks to the cast's commitment, Ron and the rest of the anchormen are set to hit theaters in 2013. Until then, stay classy, moviegoers.

 album. In accepting the award, Meron said the pair, who were also behind the Oscar-winning movie musical "Chicago" and "Hairspray," have spent a long time trying to "fight, persuade and manipulate" Hollywood into including LGB characters in their work.</P><P>Also on hand was openly gay 17-year-old high school student Katy Butler, who received a special award from Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein for her work in launching a Change.org campaign last month to argue for a <a href="http://act.mtv.com/posts/bully-needs-more-sigs-so-join-justin-bieber-demi-lovato-ellen-more-in-the-rating-fight/"_blank">PG-13 rating</a> for the upcoming documentary, "Bully."</P><P>Other winners included: "Dancing With the Stars" (Outstanding Reality Program), for including the story line of transgender dancer Chaz Bono last season, the HBO film "Cinema Verite" (Outstanding TV Movie or Mini Series), a film focused on the life of a black lesbian teenager, "Pariah" (Outstanding Film -- Limited Release), "Battle Against Bullying" from ABC World News with Diane Sawyer (Outstanding TV Journalism Segment) and the "Batwoman" comic book by J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman (Outstanding Comic Book).</P><P>More awards will be handed out on April 21 in Los Angeles and June 2 in San Francisco.</p>

The rule of thumb for protecting one’s vocal cords, she tells me, is: If people are more than an arm’s length away, you shouldn’t talk to them. “But I am like, Wah! Wah! Wah!,” she says, laughing. “It’s really bad.”
On giving up drinking last May: “Don’t like drinking anymore. I think I got it out of my system. D’yaknowhaImean?”
On her vocal troubles: “I’ve been singing properly every day since I was about fifteen or sixteen and I have never had any problems with my voice, ever. I’ve had a sore throat here and there, had a cold and sung through it, but that day it just went while I was onstage in Paris during a radio show. It was literally like someone had pulled a curtain over it.” She flew to London the next morning to see her doctor and was diagnosed with acute laryngitis. After a couple weeks’ rest, she continued her European tour, came to America, and then her voice went again in May. “That was a hemorrhage... a burst blood vessel on my vocal cord. That healed, I did a tour, and then it happened again at my best friend’s wedding on October 1.”
On getting support through her surgery from other artists: “John Mayer had it done at the same time as I did and he really helped me be chilled out about it. Roger Daltrey’s had loads of stuff done; Steven Tyler reached out; Elton John. Lots of artists have had problems with their voices, but you don’t know about it. And they are still singing incredibly well in their 50s and 60s.”
On her six Grammy nominations: “I burst into tears when I found out. And I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.” [gallery=821]

Britney Spears Shuts Down The Wanted's Tour Claims
Singer's rep denies that the guys were bullied by her bouncers and warns Lady Gaga she might be next on the boy band's hit list.

<P>It seems that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/wanted_boy_band_/artist.jhtml">The Wanted</a> are on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a>' "Most Wanted" list.</P><P>Just one day after the boy band made headlines for a claim they made about touring with the pop star, her rep has released a statement shutting down their allegations.</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:762692/cp~vid%3D762692%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A762692" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></P><P>It all started Monday with a New York radio station interview. <a href="/news/articles/1684195/the-wanted-britney-spears.jhtml">The Wanted's Siva Kaneswaran dished</a> about hitting the road with Spears back in November 2011, claiming, "I was in the hallway with my tour manager. Basically, we were looking with a laptop, trying to get WiFi ... facing the middle of the hallway. [Britney's] bouncers came down with her and told us to face the wall ... We turned around and I faced a wall for about 10 seconds until she got really far away."</P><P>Spears' camp, it seems, isn't taking their allegations lightly. In a statement to MTV News, her rep shut down the boy bander's account of the events. "What's even more interesting than the false allegations they made is the fact that they have claimed to be picked on by two female pop stars in just a few days," the rep said. "Look out, Lady Gaga — there are still three days left this week."</P><P>Well, Brit's camp should take note that one of the guys from the Wanted, in the same interview, attempted to do some damage control. Jay McGuiness added, "But, honestly, when we actually met her person to person, she was so down to earth. You can tell she's a total Southern girl, and Nathan [Sykes], when he was a kid, won a singing competition. She was one of the judges or something, and she gave him a kiss. It was one of his first kisses as a kid. So, he got to meet her again and support her."</P><P>That warmer sentiment was one they also shared with MTV News just a week ago, when they sat down with us to premiere their <a href="/news/articles/1683818/the-wanted-chasing-the-sun-video-premiere.jhtml">"Chasing the Sun" video</a>. "She's lovely as well. We haven't really met people who aren't very nice, and Britney was just very, very nice," Sykes said of his teen dream. "She was kind of what you'd expect her to be: very happy and American." And, Parker said even though her bodyguards were kind of scary, Britney had "lovely teeth."</P><P>It wasn't the first time the guys publicly criticized an experience with a female pop star. Although they've since <a href="/news/articles/1684084/the-wanted-christina-aguilera-apology.jhtml">apologized for it</a> (sort of), Tom Parker had said that when they stopped by "The Voice," <a href="/news/articles/1684009/the-wanted-christina-aguilera.jhtml">Christina Aguilera</a> was "<link type="content" id="1684009">a total bitch</a>." "She might not be a bitch in real life, but to us, she was a total bitch. She just sat there and didn't speak to us. It was literally like someone had pulled a curtain over it.” She flew to London the next morning to see her doctor and was diagnosed with acute laryngitis. After a couple weeks’ rest, she continued her European tour, came to America, and then her voice went again in May. “That was a hemorrhage... a burst blood vessel on my vocal cord. That healed, I did a tour, and then it happened again at my best friend’s wedding on October 1.”
On getting support through her surgery from other artists: “John Mayer had it done at the same time as I did and he really helped me be chilled out about it. Roger Daltrey’s had loads of stuff done; Steven Tyler reached out; Elton John. Lots of artists have had problems with their voices, but you don’t know about it. And they are still singing incredibly well in their 50s and 60s.”
On her six Grammy nominations: “I burst into tears when I found out. And I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.” [gallery=821]
