Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Alec Baldwin Give Props To Obama On Same-Sex Marriage
'Obama, congratulations on being the first sitting president to support marriage equality,' Gaga tweets.

<P>While his likely opponent in the fall presidential contest, Mitt Romney, dug in his heels and doubled down on his opposition to same-sex marriage, President Obama continued to earn praise from the entertainment community for his historic <a href="/news/articles/1684802/obama-supports-gay-marriage.jhtml">support of gay marriage.</a>

Ok so day seven of our 7 days of sex challenge was obviously sexless, but that didn’t mean we couldn’t do the vow renewal part. And after the week we had, I think we both really wanted to. We sat down and talked the week out, it had certainly been an eventful one and was life changing. Though I wouldn’t say we said vows like in our wedding, we did talk about how far we have come since we met. We were 19, young, and had the world ahead of us. Now at 29 and 30, with 8 years of marriage under our belt, we still have so much ahead of us, but our future is much more planned – less sporadic. And that includes our sex life. I think when you start off so young you go through huge changes, and sometimes you grow in different directions. It doesn’t mean you love each other less, but you become different people. <P>On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.</P><P>The albums featured in the new series are the <a href="/music/artist/rolling_stones/artist.jhtml">Rolling Stones</a>' <i>Let It Bleed,</i> <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a>'s <i>IV,</i> <a href="/music/artist/bowie_david/artist.jhtml">David Bowie</a>'s <i>The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars,</i> <a href="/music/artist/mike_oldfield/artist.jhtml">Mike Oldfield</a>'s <i>Tubular Bells,</i> <a href="/music/artist/clash/artist.jhtml">The Clash</a>'s <i>London Calling,</i> <a href="/music/artist/new_order/artist.jhtml">New Order</a>'s <i>Power, Corruption and Lies,</i> <a href="/music/artist/primal_scream/artist.jhtml">Primal Scream</a>'s <i>Screamadelica,</i> <a href="/music/artist/pink_floyd/artist.jhtml">Pink Floyd</a>'s <i>The Division Bell,</i> <a href="/music/artist/blur/artist.jhtml">Blur</a>'s <i>Parklife</i> and — the most recent album on to make the cut — <a href="/music/artist/coldplay/artist.jhtml">Coldplay</a>'s <i>A Rush of Blood to the Head.</i></P><P>Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.</P><P>Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for <i>IV</i> — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery.</P><P>"Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."</P><P>Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their <i>Rush of Blood</i> stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date."</P><P>"We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."</p>

Maxwell's mom can learn a lot from another superstar mama, Queen B.

Her fashion line, the Jessica Simpson Collection, is the most successful ever for a celebrity. What began as a vanity line of bags and shoes has transformed into a billion-dollar brand that now also includes clothing, jewelry, fragrances and sunglasses.</P><P><CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:724613/cp~name%3Dnews%26id%3D1676907%26vid%3D724613%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A724613" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER></P><P>The dueling pulls of motherhood and celebrity create a tough balancing act for a new mom, but being a mogul already is evidence enough that Simpson can wear a lot of hats. Just look at <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a>, another multi-hyphenate superstar with a newborn who is already plotting her return to form.</P><P>Indeed, Queen B is a perfect example of exactly how to balance early motherhood with the rigors of being a mogul. She's done things her way and is readying her musical comeback with several <a href="/news/articles/1681308/beyonce-memorial-day-atlantic-city-shows.jhtml">planned dates in Atlantic City</a>, currently appears on the cover of<a href="/news/articles/1683832/beyonce-people-most-beautiful-woman.jhtml"><i>People</i>'s Most Beautiful issue</a> (a covert and classy post-baby body reveal, in true Beyoncé style) and has even suggested she may at some point create a line of maternity clothes for her House of Dereon fashion line, telling <a href="http://www.harpersbazaar.com/magazine/cover/beyonces-baby-love-interview-1111"><i>Harper's Bazaar</i></a> late last year, "I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant."</P><P>Here are the three ways Jessica should look to Beyonce for post-baby mommy mogul inspiration:</P><P><big><b>Bouncing Back Professionally</b></big><br> Simpson's focus has switched from music to television in recent years, though she has never ruled out returning to the studio. Motherhood is a subject that has proven to be ace songwriting material for several pop divas, most notably Madonna. Madonna's 1998 album <i>Ray of Light</i> was inspired by the changes having a child had on her life, from her pursuit of spirituality post-baby to the change in her priorities once Lourdes entered the picture. The album went on to become one of her best-selling and most acclaimed, scoring five Grammy nominations, including Album and Record of the Year, and winning three awards. Its success reinvigorated the star, who returned to touring a few years later with a bang and has been on the road multiple times since, setting records along the way.</P><P>Beyoncé is reportedly already working on <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/14/beyonce-prepping-two-new-albums">not one, but <i>two</i> records</a>, and it goes without saying that baby Blue Ivy and the experience of motherhood will be a chief topic of her songwriting. She's also set to make her return to the stage for three concerts at the re-launch of Atlantic City's Revel Entertainment Center over Memorial Day weekend.</P><P>Simpson would be smart to put all the emotions she's feeling now to good use and start penning tracks for her return to music. The very emotions she's feeling now are the things that make for the best songs, something Beyoncé is seemingly well-aware of.</P><P><big><b>Working on Your Fitness</b></big><br> Jessica seems intent to make her post-baby weight loss a public affair (Get it? That song is her most underrated jam!) with a reported <a href="http://todayentertainment.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/02/11490423-jessica-simpsons-baby-wait-is-over-but-weight-watchers-awaits?lite" target="_blank">multimillion-dollar endorsement deal</a> with Weight Watchers, clearly taking a cue from B by keeping it healthy.</P><P>Unlike so many other celebrities, who rush hard in ways that cannot be good for them to get their figures ready for "How I Got My Body Back" tabloid photo shoots as if it were some sort of competition, Beyoncé didn't appear to feel any sort of rush to get her pre-baby figure back. According to her <a href="http://www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,20360857_20589758,00.html"><i>People</i> interview</a>, she has relied on a healthy, protein-heavy diet and three 90-minute workout sessions per week, mixing things up by combining running, dancing and exercise ball crunches. And the results speak for themselves: Four months later she looks fantastic, if not yet back to her perfect pre-baby figure. (Which is just fine; regardless of what the tabloids tell you, it is unnatural for the mother of a newborn to look as if she never had a baby in the first place just a few months after giving birth.)</P><P>"I feel my body bouncing back," B told <i>People.</i> "Whatever was tight and muscular, like my legs, I'm seeing it come back. You just have to work at it."</P><P>And work at it is exactly what Jessica will do — just in a more public setting than B. In the scheme of diets, Weight Watchers is among the healthiest and most effective. The program helps participants lose weight by forming helpful habits, eating smarter, getting more exercise and providing support, and has proven successful for such celebs as Jennifer Hudson.</P><P>Having negotiated her contract with the company in December, she may not be taking her cues from Beyoncé here, but they clearly share the same mind-set when it comes to post-baby weight loss. Slow, steady, healthy and long-term is the goal.</P><P><big><b>Creating Products</b></big><br> While Beyoncé doesn't have a line of baby clothes just yet, she has mentioned being interested in creating a maternity line for her House of Dereon label. Jessica may have a leg up on Beyoncé in this department, given the breadth of products that have popped up under her Jessica Simpson Collection label.</P><P>As both moms search for ways into the elusive baby market, Christopher Gavigan, who works with Jessica Alba on her Honest brand, <a href="/news/articles/1677997/beyonce-motherhood-business.jhtml">told MTV News</a> that he urges celebrity moms like B and Jessica to stick to what they love when it comes to branding.</P><P>"Find what you're passionate about and go do that," he advised. "You articulate that in a brand or in a way you feel from a business perspective that you feel you get your focus articulated in some meaningful or special way. 'Glee' Star Chris Colfer Teases Michael Jackson Tribute Episode

And as the show returns from a month-long hiatus, Gleeks aren't the only ones anticipating a few more famous faces. As star Chris Colfer told MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet, there's plenty to look forward to when New Directions warble again January 17.</P><P>"Well, the Michael Jackson episode ...," Colfer answered when asked about his most-anticipated upcoming episodes. "We have a Spanish episode coming up with Ricky Martin. I'm the 'White' in 'Black [or] White,' and I sing 'Ben,' that famous song he wrote for the rat."</P><P>The rodent in question is the pet of a young boy named Danny in the 1972 film "Ben." Jackson sang a version of the theme song that appeared in the movie's closing credits and was later included on his 1972 album also named <em>Ben</em>. Fashion expert weighs in on B's post-baby style during a President Obama fundraiser.

<P>All the single ladies: Put your hands up and show Beyoncé some love for looking so smoking hot just 10 weeks after <a href="/news/articles/1676906/beyonce-jay-z-baby-born-ivy-blue.jhtml">giving birth to her baby girl, Blue Ivy</a>.</P><P>After multiple sightings of the star out and about in NYC since she first emerged at a <a href="/news/articles/1678726/beyonce-post-baby-appearance-blue-ivy.jhtml">Jay-Z's post-Carnegie Hall party</a>, the singer got all dolled up to hang out with first lady Michelle Obama in Manhattan on Monday night.</P><P>The first lady of hip-hop and the <i>actual</i> first lady gathered at the Greenwich Hotel for a fundraising event for President Obama. Along with raising some dough, Beyoncé also raised eyebrows, thanks to her slamming post-baby body. Decked out in a body-hugging navy dress by Victoria Beckham, B rocked sky-high heels, dazzling bling (including a diamond-encrusted eagle) and her hair pulled back in a simple ponytail. So what was Beyoncé doing right in terms of styling herself as a new mom?</P><P>"When you think of all the things women dislike about themselves, the majority don't like their upper arms and also have skirt-length issues, so she's addressed both of these. It's an interesting choice because it's snug, not tight," celebrity stylist Robert Verdi told MTV News about B's post-baby style. "There's a distinction. It's body-flattering, for sure.</P><P>"It's also a very tasteful length: 2 inches above the knee. It's also a very conservative color, and it's very covered, but it still remains very sexy," he continued about the look. "You don't see all the bumps that women have post-pregnancy. ... Again, the distinction is it's body-conscious without revealing every lump and bump. Tight ain't right, but this ain't tight. This is body-skimming."</P><P>With Beyoncé heading back into the spotlight more and more, including a set of <a href="/news/articles/1681308/beyonce-memorial-day-atlantic-city-shows.jhtml">shows planned for Memorial Day weekend</a>, does Verdi think Queen B will reassess her stage style now that she's a mom?</P><P>"She's really young, and ... her equity is in her sex appeal, so you can't dismiss that," Verdi said. "She's not going to cover up. I think you've seen a similar evolution with Madonna, where fashion is sexy but is more intellectual. It's not as in-your-face. 'Avengers' Opening Weekend Shatters Box-Office Records
Marvel's estimated $200 million kickoff surpasses final 'Harry Potter' flick's record, knocking 'Think Like a Man' to #2.

When it comes to superhero team-ups, it looks like the whole truly is greater than the sum of its parts: "The Avengers" rocked the box office over the weekend, shattering all domestic opening weekends with an estimated $200 million kickoff. That take is significantly higher than the previous record-holder, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2," which collected $169.2 million when it opened last year.
Marvel's landmark comic book flick — which unites Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) against an otherworldly threat — became the fastest movie ever to reach $100 million, $150 million and $200 million at the box office. "The Avengers" also enjoyed the highest per-theater average ever for a nationwide release with $46,057 per theater.
Each Avenger has existed within the same Marvel movie universe since Samuel L. Jackson's first post-credits appearance as Nick Fury in 2008's "Iron Man." With the start of its own studio, Marvel was able to circumvent the multiple licensing issues that prevented their heroes from crossing over in films like "Spider-Man" (made by Sony) and "Fantastic Four" (Fox).
"The Avengers" made more in three days than the entire runs of "Captain America: The First Avenger" ($176.6 million), "Thor" ($181 million) and "The Incredible Hulk" ($134.8 million). By this weekend, it should surpass "Iron Man" ($318.4 million) and "Iron Man 2" ($312.4 million) as well.
"Marvel's The Avengers" (the official title, presumably to avoid confusion with a spy flick based on a British TV series) is the best reviewed of the recent crop, boasting a 93 percent positive critic's average on Rotten Tomatoes at press time.
Thanks to "Avengers," this past weekend brought in the overall fifth-highest box office of all time. The flick's 82.7 percent of the weekend's $242 million put it right behind "Spider-Man 3" for biggest weekend market share, according to Box Office Mojo. According to reports, 40 percent of audiences saw it in 3-D, and IMAX theaters simply didn't have enough seats to accommodate demand.
"Avengers" has made $441.5 million abroad, where it opened a week before. That makes the movie's overall two-week gross more than $641 million, easily placing it at #1 as the biggest movie of 2012 thus far.
No stranger to balancing an ensemble and mixing comic relief with supernaturally driven dramatic tension, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" mastermind Joss Whedon (who co-wrote and directed) isn't officially signed on for "The Avengers 2," but there are, of course, already several "Avengers"-related movies in production. Marvel already has "Iron Man 3" as well as sequels to "Thor" and "Captain America" on the docket, plus filmmaker Edgar Wright's long-discussed "Ant-Man."
"Avengers" was the first Marvel movie to be marketed and released by Disney, who bought Marvel for $4 billion back in August 2009.
As for the other movies in theaters over the weekend, "Think Like a Man" (which was #1 for the previous two weekends) was #2 with $8 million. Based on comedian Steve Harvey's self-help book, "Think Like a Man" was produced for just $12 million and has made $73 million domestically already.
"The Hunger Games," which is now #4 on the all-time weekend openings list, was #3 with $5.7 million giving it a seven-week domestic total of $380.7 million. Zac Efron's "The Lucky One" was just behind with $5.5 million for a three-week total of $47.9 million. "The Pirates! Band of Misfits" rounded out the top five with $5.4 million. The latest from Oscar-winning British animation house Aardman Animations has made $185 million domestically thus far. In a bit of counter-programming, Fox Searchlight's smart dramatic comedy "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" opened in 27 theaters, taking in $750,000.
Who will be brave enough to challenge Earth's Mightiest Heroes this weekend? Tim Burton's campy adaptation of classic British vampire soap opera "Dark Shadows," with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (naturally) in the leads, will make its debut, as will smaller pictures like "God Bless America" (written and directed by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait) and Eva Mendes' "Girl in Progress."
The biggest challengers for "The Avengers" will be other heroes: "The Amazing Spider-Man" (July 3) and "The Dark Knight Rises" (July 20). "The Dark Knight" holds the #3 biggest opening-weekend record, while "Spider-Man 3" ranks at #5.
